Lifts – accessibility
In Sweden almost every lift must be designed for persons with disabilities. Only in very rare situations is this not the case. Therefore, this is an important aspect for you as a manufacturer to investigate before you deliver a lift.
The Lifts Directive 2014/33/EU offers two possibilities: either a lift designed to fulfil all the accessibility requirements in the directive or a lift which does not fulfil all those requirements. The different national regulations tell you what is the case for a certain country. According to our national building regulation, this means that you have to fulfil EN 81-70 (or similar requirements) for almost every installed lift in Sweden.
